Presidents settle Gazprom gas dispute

RUSSIA'S PRESIDENT Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko have come to an agreement to settle Ukraine's debt of $1.5bn to Gazprom. The company had warned that it would halt supplies of Russian gas, covering 25% of Ukraine's needs, unless the debt was paid by 18:00hrs on Tuesday, 12 February.
