Roctest to provide fiber-optic leak detection system for Chilean pipeline

SMARTEC SA, a subsidiary of Roctest Ltd., announced that it is providing a fiber-optic leak detection system for a major mining operation in Chile to help maintain the highest environmental protection standards. In conjunction with its distributor, Geomediciones - Chile, the group is in the process of installing a leak detection solution for a pair of 154km parallel pipelines that will transport mining concentrates and industrial salt water for the Esperanza copper gold mine. Smartec's share of the contract is valued at 350,000 CHF (approximately CDN$346,000) with delivery scheduled for the first half of 2010.
