The aim of this work is the preparation andcharacterisation of ferroelectric polymer/ceramic composites foruse as piezoelectric and pyroelectric detectors. We have developeda sol-gel technique for the preparation of lead titanate andmodified lead titanate ceramic powders(with calcium andmanganese). The preparation of the ferroelectric ceramic powdersby the sol-gel technique allows one to obtain pure ceramicpowders with controlled morphology. 0-3 composites are made bydispersing ceramic powders on a P(VDF-TrFE) matrix with avolume fraction of 50%. We have prepared composite films with100 #mu#m thickness with aluminium electrodes on both surfaces,to study their electric, dielectric, piezoelectric and pyroelectricproperties. The electro-active properties obtaind for thesecomposites seem promising for sensor applications.
