Perovskite-structured xPb(Y_(1/2)Nb_(1/2))O_3-(1-x)Pb(Ti_(1/2)Zt_(1/2))O_3 ternary ceramics have been investigated. The piezoelectric and dielectric properties including electromechanical coupling factor, k_p, k_(33), piezoelectric constant d_(33),d_(31) and effective relative dielectric constant #epsilon#_(33)~T/#epsilon#_0, at room temperature, before and after poling, of different compositions have been determined. These data were ploted as a function of Pb(Y_(1/2)Nb_(1/2))O_3. The dielectric constant, #epsilon#_(33)~T/#epsilon#_0, related to temperature was measured also, by which we can infer the Curie temperature, T_c. The results showed that in some composition region this ternary system exhibited good piezoelectric properties. For example when x=0.07, the planar electromechanical coupling factor, k_p, and the piezoelectric modulus, d_(31), were found to be 0.57 and - 146 X 10~(12)C/N, respectively.
