Pre-FAI warning by Indianbuyers of import cut

Indian buyers have set the scene for price negotiations at theFAI conference in New Delhi on December 7-9 by warningthat they have decided to reduce imports by 35% fromJanuary. So far the international suppliers have declined toreduce prices agreed in the 2011/2012 supply contracts tooffset falls in the value of the rupee. Next week's talks come ata time of weaker demand and continuing resistance to priceincreases in Southeast Asia and Latin America.
