Effects of Bi(Zn_(0.5)Ti_(0.5))O_3 (BZT) substitution in Pb(Zr_(1-x)Ti_x)O_3 (PZT) piezoelectric ceramics were investigated. Morphotropic phase boundary was observed at x = 0.48 and high piezoelectric properties were observed similarly to the un-substituted PZT ceramics. Piezoelectric properties were improved with 5 mol% BZT substitution. The ferroelectric transition temperatures were decreased by about 45°C with 5 mol% BZT substitution contrary to the increase of the transition temperature with BZT substitution in PbTiO_3.
