Electric power distribution systems are facing severe problems of a high reactive power burden, as well as harmonic currents, unbalanced loads, and excessive neutral currents, etc. These affect the performance of today's high-tech industrial equipment connected to the system, and also may cause huge energy losses. So, custom power devices are proposed as the remedial solution to these problems, and the shunt connected custom power device known as DSTATCOM (distribution static compensator) is presented here.
