Aquaculture is generally perceived by Spanish consumers as providing less quality and a bit less safety than extractive fishing. As part of a national program, a survey of Spanish seafood consumers measured their beliefs about the safety and environmental benefits of aqua-culture and related willingness to pay for farmed sea bream. Results identified environmental benefits as the only motivant for a premium price.
