Since fish consume more feed in the final stages of growout, the development of ecologically efficient and nutritionally adequate diets for adult fish should be a priority. Studies with cobia showed that up to 80% of fishmeal in diets could be replaced with alternative proteins without compromising growth performance or health. Digestible proteinrdigestible energy ratios are important for optimizing feeding efficiency in feed formulation and aquaculture production. Larger pompano were found to perform well on levels of methionine lower than previously recommended.
