At a recent seafood conference, I joined the group in the hall to wait, as the politician who was to open the conference had failed to arrive on time. The organizers were in panic mode, of course, but eventually the politician and accompanying entourage and media appeared, 45 minutes late. Additionally, their process took longer than was planned, which added to the organizational problems. Other speakers, some of whom had traveled a long way, had to cut their presentations short. Many of the roundtable discussions were also shortened, as the meeting had a finite ending time.
