This article describes the properties of silica and carbon fibers that affect their conversion into knit products: degree of twist, stiffness in bending, drag coefficients, etc. Optimizing the processing of non-traditional fibers on knitting machinery makes it possible to balance the forces that act on the fibers during the stitching operation. The phenomena that lead to damage and breakage of the fibers are described, and recommendations are presented on reducing the values of the coefficients tlxat cliaracterize the tangential drag of fibers of the given type and the drag associated with their movement through the needles.
