Advances In Yellowtail Larval Rearing

To promote the development of longfin yellowtail for aquaculture diversification in Europe, ongoing research on broodstock management and larval rearing is being conducted by the Grupo de Investigacion en Acuicultura from the University of the CanaryIslands in Spain. Eggs obtained from hormone-induced spawning of wild fish were utilized to test larval-rearing techniques. Rotifer enrichment has led to 27% survival of juveniles in a semi-intensive system. Ninety days after hatching, juveniles reached26.7 ± 4.7 g.
