The authors did a comparative economic and financial analysis to compare three scenarios for shrimp-farming investment in Brazil: self-managed, bank-based or lease. Based on the current macroeconomic conditions of the production sector, all three investment scenarios demonstrated viability, especially the lease approach. The three scenarios also presented satisfactory stability against fluctuations. However, future investors should be cautious with regards to possible variations related to the aquaculture sector.
