MY household has a new obsession: "Lost." Although we missed the original run of the series on television, during that time, I remember others discussing the show and its characters with incredible enthusiasm (almost as if it were real). I never understood how a television show could generate such committed followers. Now, 1 do. I have become one of those people. The show's twists and turns are compelling. The characters' stories, their coalitions and situational ethics on the island are always of special interest. The series provides a great forum for discussion about human behavior, group dynamics and decisionmaking. So, call me crazy, but in several ways, the series serves as an appropriate metaphor for agriculture and food production.
