JOINT CULTURE: Carp Polyculture Provides Large Fish for Cash, Small Fish for Nutrition

Changes in the species raised in polyculture in Bangladesh could yield both greater profits and food for farmers. In research, the addition of cheap, fast-growing silver carp to ponds with Indian major carps cultured for cash and smaller indigenous carps raised for family food would allow farmers to sell some silver carp while retaining some for food purposes.
