Simple economic modeling can show that by considering aquacul-ture production inputs as investments rather than costs, opportunities for increased profitability can be quickly identified. Farm managers can then determine priorities based on the best profit opportunities that are both realistic and achievable. One advisable strategy would be to experiment with improved production methods in four or five trial ponds.
