John Hart left school at the end of year 10 and convinced his father that his life lay on the land. His father left accountancy to run a dairy farm at Swan Reach in the Gippsland region.Here John raised pigs as a side operation, generating enough to pay for the first 200 or so hectares, and grew a crop of sunflowers for an engagement ring for his bride to be Marilyn and the VW Beetle that they eventually came West in.Seeing an article about land being released at Esperance they applied for conditional purchase, getting about 1 OOOha released to them on the Esperancesandplain.
