APPLE browning is much more than a cosmetic issue; it has real economic costs for each link of the supply chain, from tree to table.To solve the problem, Okan-agan Specialty Fruits (OSF) has married the age-old art of fruit breeding with tools of modern science and created a non-browning apple.After 20 years, the first non-browning Arctic apple varieties have been deregulated in the U.S. and could be on store shelves in the next couple of years.For growers, this means that Arctic Golden and Arctic Granny apple trees can now be purchased and grown just like any other apple trees.
