It had become clear to everyone that the worst financial crisis for 70 years had broken out in 2008. For many economies and companies, 2009 will prove to be as difficult a year and one should not count on expecting good news. A turbulent economic environment may have various impacts on project continuity on the part of certification customers. Impacts on customer activities make themselves felt in particular through structural changes - spin-offs, startups, mergers, bankruptcies, etc. - as well as by the postponement, or the promotion of certification projects. This often requires great flexibility in planning.
