Coping with seasonal and market risks goes hand in hand with running a farm. One Victorian farmer shows how pursuing both livestock and cropping enterprises can buffer the annual risks faced on-farm. According to farm manager David Oddie the mixed system has reduced supplementary feed costs, while enabling pastures to be rested, more flexible cropping rotations and improved weed control.
