There has been growing pressure to increase agricultural production in northern Australia. But the expansion of either existing or new primary industries will require water. Researchers from the Northern Australia Irrigation Futures (NAIF) project have been examining surface and groundwater systems in Australia's north and helping governments improve their understanding of the potential for various forms of irrigation.
