ISO's rules for developing its standards require that in order to maintain them at the leading edge of their field of application, they should be reviewed within at least five years of publication. Launched three years ago, ISO Management Systems has already evolved and is now implementing further improvements heralded by the lay-out of this issue. What remains constant is the benefit to readers of the magazine's privileged position in originating from the same organization that is the source of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000. IMS will continue to facilitate the implementation of management systems based on these standards by sharing the experiences of users and bringing information on new supporting tools developed by ISO to optimize their usefulness. The ISO logo that IMS proudly bears on its masthead signals this beneficial proximity.
