Railways step up service at harvest -Variety of factors contribute to improved rail service during 2014 harvest.

THE Soy Transportation Coalition (STC) recently provided survey results for the Nov. 21 to Dec. 5 period in an ongoing research project, "2014 Harvest: Attaching a Garden Hose to a Fire Hydrant."This project monitors and documents rail service in the heavily congested areas of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Nebraska, most of which rely solely on freight rail — particularly BNSF Railway, Canadian Pacific Railway and the Union PacificRailroad.
