U.S. officials are already tracking shrimp movements and enforcing antidumping orders, and shrimp exporters and importers must work together to comply. Sloppy business practices as well as risks such as exporters that allow themselves to be used as transshipment points are serious threats to both exporters and importers. Shrimp exporters and importers are entering the ugly transitional period of antidumping controversies, when United States law enforcement officials scrutinize trade flows looking for suspicious shipments and begin to close in on cheaters. Now, more than ever, shrimp exporters and importers must strengthen their relationships if they are to survive.
