WTO holds last COOL rehearing

THE World Trade Organization heard arguments Feb. 16-17 in the appeal of its ruling on the U.S. country-of-origin labeling (COOL) rule.Last year, WTO ruled in favor of Canada and Mexico, saying the U.S. COOL rule is out of compliance with its trade obligations.Canadian Cattlemen's Assn. (CCA) past-president Martin Unrau, executive vice president Dennis Laycraft and CCA legal counsel Ed Farrell were in Geneva, Switzerland, for the WTO Appellate Body's oral hearing on the U.S.'s final appeal of the COOL law.
