What makes disc systems successful?

In the first of a series of articles, the Western Australian No-Tillage Farmers Association will analyse the factors affecting the success of high-residue disc systems in a project that will compare six WA farmers' systems with benchmarked successfulsystems. While the benefits of successful high-residue disc systems are well-recognised, many disc systems continue to produce failed crops. The advantages of disc machines are that they minimise soil disturbance which reduces moisture loss, provides better residue cutting ability and limits incorporation of weed seeds.
