DATA storage has evolved, but just because a storage method is obsolete doesn't mean the data it contains are obsolete. Remember the boxes of old punch cards professors emeriti insisted on keeping in storage even though the university no longer had the equipment to read those punch cards? Data storage and curation are important for the animal and dairy sciences not only in the long term but also in the short term as large amounts of data are gathered and analyzed across a diverse set of environments.
