Don't get wild about oats — get even

Management strategies for wild oat control are becoming critical in parts of southern Australia as the problem continues to worsen. Hit with the double whammy of increased cropping and growing resistance, University of Adelaide researchers and the Hart Field Site Group are looking for solutions. Increasing prevalence of wild oats in the mid north of South Australia can be attributed to intensification of cereal cropping and development of resistance to Group A fop and dim herbicides (Topik and Achieve) which is making control more difficult, particularly in cereal phases.
