Improving harvest field efficiency should be the first consideration before looking to purchase a second harvester. Without a chaser bin, it isn't uncommon for a harvester to spend up to 35% of its time in the paddock unloading -or travelling back tothe field or mother bin.According to South East Wheat Producers Association (SEPWA) research, post maturity yield loss can be around 0.5% per day.This, combined with the risk of loss or damage to the crop due to weather conditions which can see downgrading costs of around 40%, puts some urgency into harvest.
