A new variety of drought-tolerant white clover, a cross between white clover and Caucasion clover, was showcased last week. The new variety from British Seed Houses, which is being developed by The Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences at Aberystwyth University, has an added characteristic of drought tolerance, explained plant breeder Athole Marshall. "Soil moisture deficit is increasingly a problem in grassland systems. So we have been working to develop clovers and grasses thatare able to produce forage where there is a soil moisture deficit."
