The Olympic legacy lived on at this year's East of England Smith-field Festival when the aptly named Olympic Dream scooped the prized supreme championship medal for Victoria and Gillian Bowring, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. After much deliberation, judge and butcher Jonathan Maycock, Derbyshire, tapped out the Bowring family's overall heifer champion Olympic Dream, securing them their first championship win to date with the Limousin cross heifer. The 18-month-old was bred by Dai Brute, Brecon, and was purchased by the family at the Ruthin show potential sale for E5,000 earlier this year, after claiming the championship title.
