Cover crops can pay for themselves with higher subsequent crop yields and reduced spring cultivation, while giving long-term benefits to soil structure and black-grass control.These crops could become part of the rotation on many arable farms and may be one method used to overcome the yield plateau seen in wheat, say agronomists.
