Long-term trial gives four tractors a good workout

Devon contractors Luke and Lloyd Furse have spent the past two years testing four different tractors side by side. Two years ago a Devon contracting outfit embarked on an epic test to see which brand of tractor was best for its business. Luke and Lloyd Furse dreamt up the idea of a long-term trial in 2011 after a couple of bad experiences running single-colour fleets. Unable to decide which brand was best, they bought four tractors from different makers and ran them side by side. Son Lloyd chose atop-end Fendt Vario 718 and a John Deere 6930, while father Luke opted for a Case IH Puma 210, together with a much cheaper Landini Landpower 135.
