摘要

In just 18 months a Herefordshire farmer has established a thriving potato chip bus based on home-grown potatoes and aimed at premium markets. JOANNE PUGH visited the farm to taste the chips and to find out more about the venture. When Herefordshire potato farmer, William Chase sold his first bag of Tyrrells Potato Chips in June 2002 he became the first potato chip maker in the country to make the hand-fried snack out of potatoes grown on his own farm. A year and a half on he is producing 80,000 packets of potato and vegetable chips a week in his potato shed turned chips factory and the supermarkets arc breaking the door down to get the product into their stores.
