THE North West Farm Tourism Initiative welcomed farmers from all over the North West last week for its inaugural Transformation Day, held at Garstang, Lancashire. The North West is acting as a beacon for the rest of the country in developing farm tourism, keynote speaker Louiza Patikas, who plays Helen Archer in the Radio 4 programme The Archers, told the conference. The aim of event, which is planned to take place on an annual basis from now on, was to encourage and inspire more farmers to diversify their businesses. Ms Patikas said it was about giving farmers another option.
