Getting the combine ready for bed

FIRST, make a list of all those little niggles, concerns and problems that developed on the combine as the season unfolded, yet were not sufficiently serious to bring the machine to a standstill. Having completed the list, tape it to the windscreen ofthe cab as a constant reminder of those items that need to be checked and rectified before next season. Such checkpoints could include rumbling bearings, rattling chains, cracked belts (Fig 1), inoperative lights and wildly-inaccurate moisture meter readings.
