Irrigators have been at work this summer in many potato crops. But are you confident that your water supplies will still be available in coming seasons? The British Potato Council is urging potato growers to get together and justify their water use totheir local Environment Agency (EA) office. BPC's Mark Prentice (left) explains why. GROWERS must find out how the Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy (CAMS) will work in their area, how it affects individuals and the local catchment area. It is more than likely that the policy affecting licence applications and renewals will be decided at local level. The CAMS process will be used to decide tune limited licence renewals.
