Victoria Phillips did not set out to work in our industry. In fact as a child growing up in Gateshead nothing was further from her mind. Her father was a fireman and her mother at housing manager. Home was comfortable but very urban. From Victoria's bedroom window she could see many more chimney pots and trees and very little grass. That said she loved animals and in particular looked forward to a family holidays spent on a working farm in Scotland. This annual exposure to life on the land encouragedVictoria to study animal nutrition at Newcastle University. She followed this with a Masters in animal production at Aberdeen. Her academic career included six very happy months working on a dairy farm. To her parents' surprise she was determined to become an animal nutritionist.
