Making standards more user-friendly for users - Results of the IFAN survey on the use of International Standards

IFAN (International Federation of Standards Users) has conducted a survey on the use of International Standards. To carry it out, a questionnaire on 18 specific aspects was made available to standards users worldwide, and put up on the Web site of IFAN, ISO and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) from the beginning of 2001 until the end of May 2002. During this period, 288 respondents from 52 countries completed the questionnaire. The opinions expressed and the results of the survey are here analyzed, while the IFAN President, Dr. Veit Ghiladi comments on p. 2 on the steps ahead to develop the International Standards standards users are demanding.
