Commissioning explained: early thoughts on taking dentistry forward with a single commissioner

This paper provides an explanation of what commissioning is and what it is intended to achieve. It includes a guide to commissioning and offers a reflection on the impact and limitations of commissioning in dentistry to date. It suggests opportunities and risks for the commissioning of dentistry within NHS England, which became the single commissioner for dentistry in April 2013.
