Use of Veterinary Feed Directive Drugs in Feeds

The Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) process is a simple one designed by a coalition of animal agriculture specialists to ensure new therapeutic animal drugs are used safely and in accordance with current science. Feed manufacturers, dealers, retailers, producers and veterinarians must insure there is adequate control of VFD products. This chapter looks at the VFD process and associated dealer requirements and liability issues.
