With an insistence on training and a pure salaried sales force, this multi-store president believes that true service to the customer is the real key to delivering profitable returns. Success of an equipment business depends on repeat customers, and getting repeat customers depends on quality customer service, says Dan Butler, president of Butler Machinery Co. These words are not "lip service" at Butler. The president is quick to point out that two-thirds of his 580 associates have service responsibilities in one form or another.
