VDMA: Industrial plant manufacturing in 2012

The large industrial plant manufacturing industry is a major sector of the German economy with an average new order volume of nearly Euro25bn/yr between 2008 and 2012. Germany has a 17% share of the sector worldwide. The large-scale plant engineering contractors in the VDMA maintain business ties with customers in nearly all parts of the world and in recent years they have delivered around 80% of products abroad. South Asia, East Asia and the United States are key customer countries at present. By opening up new markets, the large industrial plant engineering industry provides a significant contribution to Germany's international economic relations.
