A vision of high-speed accuracy: With increasing demand for cordless phones, Computype has worked with Siemens on a vision system to double the speed of its label application machines while providing high levels of accuracy

The Simatic VS 710 image processing system plays a critical role in a new high-speed labelling machine from Computype which specialises in auto identification. The machine represents the beginning of Siemens' Bocholt site's auto ID system which is central to production management and provides traceability throughout the product's lifetime. With rising demand for cordless phones, Computype had the task of doubling the speed of its machine. Once the task of collecting data and printing it on a 8 × 8mm label at high speed had been completed, the focus shifted to integrating an image processing system that could meet the required levels of speed and accuracy. System Integrators, HG Systems in Chesterfield designed, programmed and commissioned the vision application. They selected the Siemens Simatic VS 710 to meet Computype's specifications.
