摘要

The loading bay has evolved as an efficient way of moving goods in out of a production/warehouse facility using road haulage. This concept can however be hugely complicated as well as downright dangerous. Health and safety issues are considerable. The loading bay is essentially about commercial vehicles reversing towards a large door at a height above the ground to facilitate loading. Different vehicle sizes require dock-levellers to compensate for height differences. Shelters have been developed to give protection from adverse weather and dock seals prevent warm or cold air escaping. There is also an important anti-theft consideration. High speed doors can also be used as an additional environmental control. There are a host of safety 'add-ons' such as wheel guides to ensure the reversing vehicle is square with the loading bay, bumpers to prevent the vehicle contacting the loading bay, dock restraints to hold the vehicle in place, and traffic lights.
