In the middle of planting season, a farmer in Saskatchewan experienced a catastrophic failure on his four-wheel-drive tractor. He called his dealer and, racing against the clock, learned that the dealership's loaners were already being used. The dealer-ship's regional sales manager had to find another way to fix the situation quickly. With no time to meet with his bosses, he purchased a used tractor for $250,000 and shipped it to the cus-tomer's farm so he wouldn't lose a day.
