The Federal Republic of Germany is a dominant economic power located at the geographical and political centre of the European Union (EU). It has the highest population and largest economy of any EU member state, with strong manufacturing and industrial sectors, including cement and cement plant manufacturing. The country's cement industry produced around 37Mt/yr of cement in 2012, substantially higher than during the recent economic downturn.
