Holcim launches blended cement products

Philippines: Listed construction firm Holcim Philippines, Inc. has launched blended cement products which it claimed were stronger in composition. In a press briefing, Francis Felizardo, Holcim senior vice-president for operations, said that Holcim Excel Cement, which is used for construction, and Holcim Wallright, used for hollow block laying and plastering, are improvements to the traditional Portland and Pozzolan types. Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) is a mix of clinker and gypsum, while Pozzolan, the cheaper type, is a blend of clinker, reactive silica and some gypsum. Pozzolan is less stronger in composition against Portland.
