France: Lafarge's profit falls by 28%

Lafarge's net profit fell by 28% year-on-year to Euro218m in the third quarter of 2014, down from Euro304m in 2013. The drop was blamed on the war in Iraq and a slow construction market in France. Sales revenues fell slightly to Euro3.64bn during the period. Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) fell by 4% to Euro887m from Euro920m in 2013. Cement sales volumes fell slightly to 31 Mt in the three month period.
