Most elevator employees know that there is a lockout/tagout standard (Federal OSHA 1910.147) and feel they are in compliance. Some are surprised to discover that they are not in compliance with some of the finer aspects of the standard. Employees mustbe trained on the particulars of the lockout, before they perform the work. Do you check on the lockout before the work starts to make sure that everything is done properly? Do you look for better methods of locking something out? Do you audit your lockouts? Do you address contractors and outside services?
